Since the XII century, the Jaumandreu estate, in the Bages comarca in Catalonia, has made history for its wine-producing activity, combining the know-how of various generations with the excellent conditions that the land offers for cultivating vines. The estate includes a traditional Catalan masia or country house in a unique setting, among gentle slopes, where silence reigns as you gaze dreamily out over the vines.
Jaumandreu has one fundamental aim:- to produce wines that blend modernity with the traditions of the land and which reflect the particular features of this delightful part of Catalonia.
Jaumandreu estate wines were always highly regarded as authentic wines – the product of great creativity together with thorough preparation and a powerful passion for excellence. They are wines created from our own crop, with total respect for the natural environment that our harvest grows from.
Pere Baucells is the manager of the bodega founded in 2004 and together with a multi-discipline staff combining backgrounds in fine cooking, marketing, communication and food production, he leads a project that has already produced its first fruits – some wines with deep roots in this land, wines that reflect their personality in their modern look, with an elegant and attractive image with direct references to the natural elements that surround the estate.
At Jaumandreu, within the Appelation of Origin called Pla de Bages, 60 hectares have been recuperated for vines with the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonay and Sauvignon Blanc grape varieties. This is the largest wine bodega anywhere in the Pla de Bages region.
Authenticity, creativity, passion and work are all present in this new project, in Jaumandreu.
The Appelation of Origin known as Pla de Bages is located in the province of Barcelona. It is a region where the exceptional micro-climate forms a perfect natural advantage for cultivating vines in an ideal situation. The personality of the wines from Bages is conditioned by its rigorous climate, scarce rainfall and undulated soil types. These conditions determine a limited grape production but of exceptional quality. In 2005, this D.O. celebrated ten years’ of existence, as proof of its fully active presence in the wine growing panorama of Spain.
